The inaugural Duke City Marathon ran in 1984. Since then, it has become a popular annual event and is one seven races on offer, also including Marathon Relay, Half Marathon, 10K Run, 10K Walk, 5K Run and 5K Walk.

Duke City Marathon Route
Starting from Mayor Kinney Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque, runners follow an out-and-back, roads-closed course around the city streets, and nearby trails. Along the route, participants will pass many local landmarks and enjoy some amazing scenery, such as the view towards the spectacular Sandia Mountains at mile 10.

There is a mild inlcine for the first 12 miles (climbing 50 feet) followed by a steeper incline to the turnaround point. This is effort is then returned with a downhill 13.1 miles to the finish line back at Mayor Kinney Civic Plaza.
