The Mohawk Hudson River Marathon has been described by Runner's World Magazine as "simple, understated and stunning", an event with "all the amenities of a major marathon with none of the hassles.". There is also a Mohawk Hudson River Half Marathon.

Mohawk Hudson River Marathon Route
Runners follow a point-to-point course starting near the Niskayuna Community Center and finishing on the bike path in downtown Albany. Using paved bikeways and local roads, the course heads along the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers, passing local landmarks such as the Watervliet Arsenal.
